tiaraiconsweater dresses

When the temperatures drop below zero (Celcius that is), outfits turn practical and layering becomes essential.  Many people turn to chunky knits but my favourite way to stay fashionably warm is with sweater dresses and thick tights. As a true dress devotee I'm loyal to dresses, no matter the weather!

tiaraiconfrom filing to fortune tellers

I love transforming looks from career to cocktails by changing accessories, hairstyle and shoes and creating a whole new ensemble.  Last week I wore my thrifted black and white patterned blouse two different ways, the first time as a daytime look for work and the second as an evening outfit for a five course Witches & Fortune Tellers themed vegan dinner at Cafe My House.

Filing:
Blouse, Vest, Pants, Scarf & Ring- Thrifted; Shoes- Vintage; Beret- Zellers;  Bracelets- Aldo; Nail Polish- Blackmail by Wet and Wild & Today Was a Fairytale by Deborah Lippman

Fortune Tellers:
Blouse & Ring- Thrifted; Skirt- Spoof; Scarf (worn as belt), Headband & Clutch- Gifted;  Necklace- Sears; Shoes- Max's Shoe Repair; Nail Polish- Blackmail by Wet & Wild

{Surprise shot that my man took while I was looking at myself in the mirror across the room.  This is my mirror face.}

tiaraiconwinter wonderland

Skirt, Top, Small Ring, Boots & Cardigan- Thrifted; Large Ring- Zellers; Nail Polish- Blackmail by Wet n Wild

This past weekend was a winter wonderland in Ottawa with fresh snow falling and its accompanying brrr factor.  My best friend took Christmas photos of my man and I (and Marley & Mama Sita of course) which I will share closer to the season but for now here are some (unedited) photos of Ottawa in all its snowy glory (and a festive thrifted outfit while we're at it!

Look at me wearing leopard again (this time, cardigan style). Told you I couldn't get enough of the print!

Is it a winter wonderland where you live?

tiaraiconjust can't get enough

Blouse- Zara; Belt, Pants & Purse- Thrifted; Necklace- Sears; Ring- Zellers; Shoes- Dress for Success Ottawa Sale
There is no print I adore more than leopard.  I adored it when cougars were the only ones brave enough to sport the sassy pattern and I love it even more now that it's considered a neutral.  People who I would never suspect to join forces with the animal kingdom are now rocking leopard print like no other! If I were to ever become a minimalist (which by the size of my clothing collection I don't see happening anytime soon!), this leopard print blouse from Zara along with my consigned pussybow leopard print blouse would definitely make the shortlist.

What's your favourite print?

tiaraiconsnow toes (take 2)

Red Jeans (worn like this) Blazer, Belt, Purse, Scarf & Ring- Thrifted; Shoes- Vintage;  Top- Smart Set; Bracelets- Aldo; Nail Polish- Black Pearl by Chanel (Gifted)

This is my second time writing this post, I had it scheduled for last Thursday but somehow managed to delete all the contents and not even my computer scientist man could save it!

I'm not one of those winter loving Canucks you see on commercials (guess I'm not a self respecting Canadian!), in fact I start to hibernate when the cold weather comes.  I also don't like dressing for winter and in the 6 years I have lived in Ottawa, I haven't bought myself a proper winter jacket or boots so I am freezing all season long.  Today I am debuting my snow toes, a trend that I started in High School when I would walk to the bus stop in heels without socks or sometimes even sandals (I think it was so that I would catch cold & miss a few days of school; don't worry I have grown up a bit and now wear boots to walk to work and I change into the cute shoes at the office).

Do you bundle up for the cold or have snow toes?

tiaraiconblue legs, brown toes

Blouse, Skirt, Purse, Bracelet & Shoes- Thrifted; Necklace- Dragon Moon & Thrifted; Tights- Aldo; Ring- H&M; Earrings- Gifted; Nail Polish- Gold Coin & Silver Coin by Revlon

It's officially opaque tight weather in Ottawa.  When I was organizing my closet room this weekend (pictures to come shortly),  I came across these deep blue tights.  I loved the colour combination of them paired with the chocolate brown shoes so much that I rocked blue legs & brown toes twice recently.

{I wore this outfit for a post-workout dinner/cocktail girl's night on Friday.}

Skirt, Shoes, Purse & Bracelet- Thrifted; Blazer- Target; Necklace- Dragon Moon; Rings- Gifted & H&M; Tights- Aldo; Nail Polish- Gold Coin & Silver Coin by Revlon

{This ensemble was worn for a delicious Saturday lunch at The Daily Grind Art Cafe (everything is gluten free, many vegan options and a neat art/music space upstairs) followed by Christmas craft show shopping}

What is your favourite colour of tights?
