tiaraiconSpring Swap Shop

I'm an alliteration addict so when Starfish Events contacted me to help promote their upcoming Spring Swap Shop, I was intrigued by the name alone.  I was a stylist at the event last year and had a blast helping shoppers swap in style! I'm a fan of clothing swaps because they're a sustainable way to add new pieces to your wardrobe, while purging your closet.

I've hosted my own clothing swap for friends and what I like about Starfish' event is that for only $10, attendees have access to fashionable items while sipping on bubbly and nibbling on hors d'oeuvres in a vibrant setting.

Here are just some of the pieces from my wardrobe that I am donating to the event (Mama Sita not included!)

Leftover female items will be donated to Youville Centre & male items to Suits his Style (a non-profit I helped to found).

The more you swap, the more you can shop (one item donated= one item to take home) so be sure to start cleaning out your closet. Bring the items you want to swap with you to the event (if you have a lot of pieces, try to arrive by 9:30am.) Don't have clothing to swap? You can buy tokens (one token=one item) for $2 each (plus the $10 entry fee).

Top, Skirt, Purse, Sunglasses, Scarf & Necklace- Thrifted; Ring- Garage Sale; Shoes- Target; Fedora- Sears
After six months of snow, I am ready for sun, sun & more sun!  Despite my fair complexion that burns and freckles rather than tans, I love the warm feeling of my skin and ensure to cover up with a funky hat and SPF 60.  I wore this outfit on Sunday for an afternoon of door perusing (ah, the joys of home ownership!), grocery shopping & sun soaking.

What's your warm weather weeekend wear?

tiaraicondrive in style

Ottawa's first green mall, Billings Bridge is running a safe driving campaign to create awareness around distracted driving.  Simple tasks such as drinking coffee, GPS navigation, switching radio stations or sending a quick text, are not only distracting but they can even be fatal when done while driving.

To keep our roads safe, Billings Bridge is encouraging shoppers to take the pledge to drive in style.  On Saturday May 24 between 11am-3pm, stop by the mall for a chance to win a $1000 shopping spree or $1000 worth of technology.  Feeling creative? Showcase your idea for a safe driving mobile application on a 18x24 poster board for your chance to win $2500 in prizes!

Pants- Twiss & Weber (custom designed); Top- Smart Set; Necklace- Joe Fresh; Earrings & Shoes- Thrifted; Ring- Gifted

I am fortunate to have a built in GPS and hands free system in my car which allows me to enter my destination before leaving my driveway.  I have however been known to do a quick makeup application at a red light and am pledging to save my mascara and lipgloss for my vanity table and not the road!

Ottawans, please take the pledge to end distracted drivers and everyone else, be sure to drive in style and leave the phone alone!

tiaraiconstreet style {Havana}

I was recently vacationing in Cuba and as a special excursion one day, decided to take a plane to Havana for a guided tour.  The city is brimming in rich history & stunning architecture but what excited me the most was the street style.  So I took a break from photographing the Revolution Square and started snapping pictures of both tourists and locals' ensembles.  Here I share with you some of my favourites.

While travelling, do you pay attention to what others are wearing?

tiaraiconbrights vs. pastels

As someone who gravitates towards colour and pattern, I find that I'm often among the minority when it comes to dressing for the colder months.  Now that the sun is shining and BBQ season is just around the corner, merchandisers are starting to bring out the brights and the pastels.  Both have their time and place, I love to wear brights to punch up a basic outfit and pastels are great for a subtle accessory.

Online retailer AMI Clubwear, provided me with an opportunity to review a couple of their accessories and I chose the Fuchsia Green Two Tone Faceted Set & the Light Pink Faceted Set , perfect pieces to transition my wardrobe from winter to spring.

I wore this outfit for a busy day of work, vintage shopping, running errands & meetings.

AMI Clubwear is based out of SoCal and each season their buyers travel to designer showrooms to select the new trends.  They add new items to their site weekly, their prices are affordable and the products funky!
